Description

Supercritical CO2 Extractor works based on the supercritical state of CO2.
  1. Supercritical State Creation

    • CO2 becomes supercritical when its temperature and pressure exceed the critical values ( and ). The extractor uses a high - pressure pump and a heater to get CO2 into the supercritical state (usually 30 - 50MPa in pressure and proper temperature).

  2. Extraction

    • The material for extraction is put in the extraction vessel. Supercritical CO2 is pumped into it. With good fluidity and diffusivity, it gets into the material. It can dissolve target substances. The solubility depends on the density of CO2 which is affected by temperature and pressure. The process continues until equilibrium, and a stirrer (if available) can speed it up.

  3. Separation

    • In the separation vessel, the solutes are separated from the supercritical CO2 by changing the pressure or temperature to reduce the solubility of CO2. The solutes are then deposited, and CO2 is recycled. One - step or multi - step separation can be used to improve the purity of the extract.

  4. CO2 Recycling

    • The CO2 from the separation vessel is recycled through a cooling and compression system. It's filtered, pressurized again, and sent back to the extraction vessel for reuse, which is cost - effective and environment - friendly.

  5. Process Control and Monitoring
