Hydrophobic Silica Aerogel Powder For Building Field

Aerogel is a solid form of matter, the least dense solid in the world. The density is 3kg/ m3. The common aerogel is silicon aerogel, which was first developed by the American scientist Kistler in 1931. There are many kinds of aerogel, including silicon, carbon, sulfur, metal oxide, metal and so on. aerogel is a combinatorial word, where aero is an adjective meaning to fly, and gel is obviously a gel. It literally means a gel that can fly. gel of any substance can be called aerogel as long as it can be dried to remove the internal solvent, but also can basically keep its shape unchanged, and the product has high porosity and low density.
Aerogel Insulation Blanket is made by special technics, in which nano silica aerogel is adopted as leading material. It is a flexible composite blanket designed for high-temperature applications(up to 600C/1150F), with thermal performance two to eight times greater than other high-temperature insulating materials.

The application prospects of aerogel particles in the construction field are quite promising, mainly reflected in the following aspects:

Thermal Insulation Field

  • External Wall Insulation: Incorporating aerogel particles into external wall insulation materials, such as making aerogel insulation boards or aerogel composite thermal insulation mortar. Its extremely low thermal conductivity can effectively reduce the heat exchange between the inside and outside of buildings. The aerogel particles of our company used in the construction field have the following advantages:

1. Excellent Thermal Insulation
  • The thermal conductivity is extremely low, ranging from approximately 0.012 to 0.03 W/(m·K). Compared with traditional building insulation materials such as rock wool and polystyrene boards, it can better prevent heat transfer between the inside and outside of the building. The unique nanoporous structure effectively inhibits the three forms of heat transfer: conduction, convection, and radiation, significantly improving the building's thermal insulation effect and reducing the energy consumption of air-conditioning, heating and other equipment, achieving high-efficiency energy saving.
